STORRS, CT (Sept. 24) - The University of Connecticut women’s soccer team will be visiting Mansfield Middle School on Friday, September 27, 2002 at 12:30 p.m. The women will be participating in the Character Concepts Program and will be speaking with nine 5th grade classrooms about "perseverance," the word of the week.
The Character Concepts program reinforces the important character traits introduced at home. School and community role models are asked to help in representing these concepts. A new character word is introduced each week. The definition is discussed and examples of how they can practice the trait are shared. The members of the UConn women’s soccer team will share how they practice "perseverance" on a day-to-day basis.
In addition, the fifth graders participate in the Drug Abuse Resistance Program (DARE), and will look for guidance from the women on how to stay drug and alcohol free.
For any further information regarding the men and women’s soccer program please contact the Office of Athletic Communications.
