STORRS, CT (Oct. 7) - Sophomore forward Kristen Graczyk (Albuquerque, NM) and senior midfielder Sarah Popper (Penn Yan, NY) earned BIG EAST co-player of the week honors as chosen by league officials Monday afternoon.
Graczyk leads the No. 10 Huskies in scoring after finishing last week with three goals. She scored three out of her team’s five goals in a 5-0 win over Miami. She shares the co-offensive player of the week honor with Carli Lloyd of Rutgers.
Popper anchored a defense that did not allow a goal in two victories last week, and has only allowed one in the past six games. She helped to limit Miami to 12 shots in a 5-0 win. In a 1-0 victory over Yale, the defense allowed only two shots. Popper’s co-defensive player of the week is Jen Lewis of West Virginia.
The Huskies make a road-trip this weekend to meet with Rutgers on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. and Notre Dame on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
