UConn Rowing Places Second in Amherst Heat

Amherst, MA (April 6) -- The University of Connecticut Novice Four squad had a second place in finish in its heat on Saturday morning in Amherst, MA. Boston College, Delaware and UMass joined UConn in the race that was originally scheduled for Connecticut's Coventry Lake, but was changed due to weather conditions on the lake.

The Novice Four finished in a time of 7:34.2 behind Delaware (7:26.18), while Massachusetts came in third (7:53.2). The Novice Eight placed fourth of four teams in a time of 6:49.6. Delaware captured first place (6:38.0), Boston College was second (6:44.4) followed by UMass (6:48.0).

The Junior Varsity Eight claimed the fifth place position in the five team field. Massachusetts A squad was first (6:27.3), followed by Boston College (6:34.8), UMass B (6:42.1), Delaware (6:45.0) and UConn (6:54.0). The Varsity Eight squad claimed a fourth place finish in their heat. Boston College was first (6:13.7), UMass finished second (6:14.3), followed by Delaware (6:30.5) and Connecticut (6:37.42).

UConn will race on Sunday, April 8 in New London, CT. The races will feature Coast Guard, Mount Holyoke and Trinity.
