Five Former Women's Soccer Players Drafted by WUSA

Whalen joined the New York Power, which will be based near her hometown of Greenlawn, NY, in the previous National Team assignment pool at the start of the league.
Whalen, a three-time All-American and two-time Big East Defensive Player of the Year, finished her career at UConn with 23 goals and 43 assists for 89 points. In her final season at UConn, she was named the 'National Player of the Year' by the Honda Awards Program and by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, as well as being named Hermann and M.A.C. Trophy finalists. After UConn, Whalen became a member of the United States National Team, which won the 1999 Women's World Cup and a silver medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Dorn was the mainstay of the Husky defense in her four years at UConn. She played in 92 games, making 82 starts, recording six goals and eight assists for 20 points.
A two-time All-American and Big East Offensive Player of the Year, Connors made her mark on UConn's offensive line. She notched 43 goals and 42 assists for 128 points, placing her tied for third on UConn's all-time scoring list.
M. Tietjen played in 99 games for Connecticut, starting in 91 of them. She ended her career with 43 goals and 42 assists for 128 points, placing her tied for third on Connecticut's all- time scoring list.
J. Tietjen recorded 16 goals and a school-record 64 assists for 96 points while at UConn. As a Husky, J. Tietjen played in 97 games, making 96 starts.
