Coach Moe Butler has been a pivotal member of the UConn Athletics staff since 2004. Currently, she oversees all aspects of training for the Men’s Ice Hockey and Women’s Tennis programs, while also managing the administrative operations of the entire Sports Performance department.
Throughout her tenure, Moe has provided strength and conditioning expertise to numerous UConn teams including Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country, Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving, Softball, Women’s Ice Hockey, Women’s Soccer, and Women’s Volleyball. Her work has contributed to multiple conference and ECAC/IC4A championships, NCAA tournament appearances, and the development of over 70 All-Americans. Many of the athletes she has coached have gone on to be drafted into professional leagues such as the MLB and NHL.
Beyond training, Moe pioneered UConn’s first Husky Fuel station — a performance nutrition initiative that supports the dietary needs of all student-athletes. Her impact extends to the national stage, having served as the Head Performance Coach for the U-18 Women’s Ice Hockey National Team, which captured back-to-back gold medals at the IIHF World Championships in 2008 and 2009 under her leadership.
Prior to her role at UConn, Moe served as a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach and as Assistant Program Director at Be Athletic, where she developed youth athletes during their off-seasons. A sought-after speaker, she has presented nationwide on topics ranging from Hockey and Baseball performance development, to performance nutrition and return-to-play strategies for injured athletes.
A native of Red Hook, NY, Moe holds both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts from the University of Connecticut, where she was a four-year letter winner and All-American in field hockey. She currently resides in Mansfield, CT with her wife, Alana, and their daughter, Calynn.
