Drew Stefanelli begins his second season on the UConn football strength and conditioning staff in 2025. Stefanelli joined the Huskies last season after the previous two seasons at the University of Nevada.
While with the Wolfpack football program, Stefanelli served in the role of assistant strength and conditioning coach. He also worked as the head strength and conditioning coach with the Nevada softball program.
He was responsible for programing and implementation of individualized training with the focus on strength building and return-to-play protocol for the long-term injured football athletes. He helped coordinate the education and curriculum of the volunteer internship program for football and worked in conjunction with the staff in building and planning year-round programming for football.
Prior to his time at Nevada, Stefanelli spent the spring of 2022 as a strength and conditioning intern with the University of Maryland football program. He spent the 2021 season in the same role at the University of Oregon. He began his coaching career working as a football coach and strength and conditioning coach at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, Maryland in 2017.
Stefanelli is a graduate of Maryland, where he was a member of the Terrapins football team from 2013-16. He earned his bachelor’s of science degree in kinesiology and went on to get a master’s of science in exercise science from California University of Pennsylvania.
He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist from the National Strength & Conditioning Association. He is a certified performance enhancement specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and a certified speed specialist by the National Association of Speed and Explosion.
