AS A SENIOR (2017): NFHCA All-American Third Team selection … tabbed to the All-Region First Team … garnered All-BIG EAST second team honors … selected to the 2017 NCAA All-Tournament Team … BIG EAST All-tournament Team honoree … finished the season with one goal for two points … started all 23 games for UConn … picked up the game-winner against Boston University (Sept. 17) … served as captain for the season … led a midfield that finished first in scoring margin (3.57) … a two-time National Champion (2014 & 2017) … graduated as part of the most successful class in program history with an 87-6 record.
AS A JUNIOR (2016): Started all 24 games for the Huskies…Recorded three goals and three assists throughout the season…Primarily served as a defensive midfielder, playing a crucial role in UConn’s defense…Helped the Huskies allow just 1.22 goals per game…Named All-Big East Second Team and All-Mideast Region Second Team.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2015): Earned starting nods in all 23 games...Tallied a goal in the Big East Championship against Temple (11/8)...Had one assist against Georgetown (10/31)...Scored her first career goal against Villanova (10/3)…Dished an assist in 9-1 win over Columbia (9/6).
AS A FRESHMAN (2014): Saw action in 22 contests with 15 starts... Part of an offensive attack that scored 15 goals in back-to-back wins over Providence and Yale... Registered her first career collegiate point with an assist in UConn's 6-1 win over Kent St. on Nov. 15 in the NCAA First Round.
High School: Competed at Hamburg Area High School... Earned four varsity letters in her career and was tabbed as Team MVP in each of her four years with the Hawks... Scored a combined 47 goals and registered 29 assists in her final two seasons en route to two All-state selections and a Regional All-America honor in her senior campaign... Served as Team Captain in both her junior and senior years, helping to lead Hamburg to a 30-16 record... Finished her high school career with 73 total goals and 58 assists... Member of the U.S. Women's U19 National Team.
Personal: Karlie Marie Hesitand... Daughter of Cliff and Diane... Has one sister, Rayell (23), who played for the Huskies from 2008-11 and earned a spot on the United States Field Hockey National Team ... A biochemistry major... was a member of the swimming, track and field and cross country teams during high school.
