2017 (Sophomore Season): Started 28 games out of 39 total appearances, playing mostly in right field...Hit .155 with a home run and six RBI throughout the season...One of just three Huskies with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage...Went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored against Northern Kentucky on March 4...Hit a solo home run against Houston on April 8.
2016 (Freshman Season): Made 35 appearances and earned 15 starts, all of which came at third base…Led the team with a .333 batting average, going 11-for-33 from the plate…Successfully stole four bases in four attempts…Hit a grand slam in 6-0 win over Central Connecticut State on April 13…Went 3-for-3 with two RBI in win over Eastern Michigan on March 19…Made 13 appearances as a pinch runner...Named to 2015-16 American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
Before UConn: Hernandez was a varsity starter under head coach Kelly Karp at Hunterdon Central Regional High School. She helped lead her team to the New Jersey Group IV championship in 2011. Hernandez earned honors from the Courier News as a member of both the All-Rookie team and All-Area team. In addition to her work at Hunterdon Central Regional, she played four years of club ball with the New Jersey Inferno Gold Team that finished in the top-25 at the PGF Premier National Championships. Off the field, she has been an honor roll student throughout the first three years of high school career and also served as the secretary for the Revolution for Children Club at Hunterdon Central.
