Huskies Turn In Strong Results Against Army and Bryant

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's tennis team saw several strong individual performances this weekend against Army and Bryant, highlighted by multiple players earning wins across singles and doubles play.
Against Army, Tamara Kuti picked up a hard-fought victory in singles, defeating Smith in three sets, (6-1, 6-7, 10-6). Victoria Matos also battled to a three-set win, earning a 6-0, 2-6, 10-3 victory over Samonte.
At No. 4 singles, Abigail Elham secured a straight-set victory (6-4, 6-4) while Isabella Asenov cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win. Gretchen Wolfe rounded out the singles victories for the Huskies with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
In doubles action, the pairing of Nicole Kuti and Ela Platenikova earned a 7-5 victory, while Matos and Elham added a 6-3 win.
The Huskies continued their strong play against Bryant, with Ela Platenikova earning a victory at the top singles spot, (7-6, 6-1). Kuti followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win. While Victoria Matos remained unbeaten on the weekend with a 6-2, 6-0 victory.
Elham added another straight-set win at singles (6-2, 6-0). At singles, Wolfe earned a 7-5, 6-0 victory, and Caroline Hinshaw rounded out the day with a 6-0, 6-3.
Across the two matches, Kuti, Matos, Elham and Wolfe each collected multiple singles victories. Platenikova added a win at the top singles position against Bryant and teamed with Kuti for a doubles victory against Army, while Hinshaw earned straight-set singles win over Bryant.
The Huskies return to action Sept. 26-28 at the Dartmouth Invitational in Hanover, New Hampshire.
