Huskies Shutout Bryant, Win 11th Straight

STORRS, Conn. – Behind a first inning grand slam from Kaitlyn Breslin, the UConn softball team defeated the Bryant Bulldogs, 6-0 on Tuesday evening at Burrill Family Field. The Huskies picked up their eleventh consecutive victory, improving to 21-22 overall this season.
Freshman Caprice Bohmer earned her 18th start of the season for the Huskies. Bohmer delivered a strong performance in the circle, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings, giving up just one hit, adding five strikeouts, earning her team-leading 10thvictory this season.
The Huskies jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the 1st inning off the bat of Kaitlyn Breslin. The junior outfielder hit a towering grand slam over the left field bullpen, her ninth of the season, giving UConn an early 4-0 advantage.
Kaitlyn Kibling added a run to the Huskies lead in the bottom of the 4th inning with a double down the right field line, scoring Caylee De Meo from second base to make it 5-0.
Sophomore Alexandra Bacher came on in relief for Bohmer in the 6th inning, making her 13th appearance of the season.Bacher kept the shutout intact, pitching a scoreless frame.
Savannah Ring extended UConn's lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the 6th inning with a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Heidi Barber from third base.
Sophomore Amber Bretton came on to close out the win in the 7th inning, coming on in relief for Bacher, making her 13thappearance this season. Bretton set the Bulldogs down one-two-three, securing UConn's eleventh straight victory.

- Caprice Bohmer earned her team-leading 10th win in her rookie season.
- Kaitlyn Breslin hit her 9th home run of the season, recording her team-leading 13th multi-RBI game. She also posted her 11th multi-hit game this year.
- UConn's pitching staff earned their fifth shutout this season. The staff has held teams to three runs or less in eight of their last nine games.
- UConn's defense did not commit an error for the 19th time this season.
