Track & Field Sweeps Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational

CONWAY, S.C. – UConn track and field began its outdoor season this weekend, sweeping the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. The men's team led the way with 128 points, ahead of runner-up Lock Haven (77 points). The women's side posted 134.5 points, ahead of runner-up South Carolina (108.33 points). UConn set six new program top-10 marks, led by three performances from Marshall Potter.
Men's Field:
- Potter cracked the program top 10 in the hammer throw, winning the competition at 60.59m, the eighth-best performance in program history. Alex Krause finished second at 59.37m.
- Connor Hayford finished second in the javelin throw at 67.91m. Thomas Bannon secured third at 66.62m.
- Potter won the discus competition at 51.55m. Lucas DeCrescenzo finished third at 46.47m and Capp DeSheplo secured sixth at 44.99m.
- Dar Jankovic finished sixth in the high jump at 2.08m.
- Potter won the shot put at 18.11m. Nicholas Connolly finished fourth at 15.42m.
- Wyatt Martin finished fourth in the pole vault at 4.86m. Max Ringwall took seventh at 4.41m.
Women's Field:
- Gabriela DeFelice finished third in the discus at 45.00m. Brook-lynn Roberts claimed fifth at 42.11m.
- DeFelice finished second in the hammer throw, with a throw of 51.31m.
- Kaylee Meyer claimed third place in the high jump at 1.68m. Mackenzie Braunstein tied for second in the competition at 1.53m.
- Caitlin Dumouchel placed ninth in the javelin at 38.96m. Emily Miller finished 15th at 35.07m.
- Jaidah Garrett finished fourth in the long jump at 5.88m. Brooklyn Taylor claimed eighth at 5.64m.
- Rachel Mason finished sixth in the pole vault at 3.65m.
- Sinclaire Fryer, Ella Karp and Roberts swept the top three spots in the shot put, with respective throws of 13.58m, 13.50m, and 12.76m.
- Garrett finished fifth in the triple jump at 12.07m. Matilda Brockley placed seventh at 12.01m
Men's Track:
- Medwin Odammten qualified for the 100m final, finishing second in the preliminaries with a time of 10.42, the fifth-fastest time in program history. Odammten finished second in the finals at 10.45.
- Josh Mooney and Wyatt Gravier qualified for the 110m hurdles finals. Mooney finished third with a time of 14.21 and Gravier placed fourth at 14.48.
- Peyton Butler finished eighth in the 400m, crossing the line at 48.16.
- Gravier secured seventh in the 400m hurdles at 55.17.
- Mason Brosious won the 800m race at 1:50.93. Gabe Cuffey took third at 1:51.11 and Kyle Jeffers finished seventh at 1:54.36.
- The 4x800m relay team of Mason Brosious, Gabe Cuffey, Kelton Poirier and John Canale won the event at 7:39.95.
Women's Track:
- Brooklyn Taylor won the 100m hurdle finals, crossing the line in 13.74. Ruby Tillson finished second in 13.90. Mackenzie Braunstein placed fifth at 14.48 and Alyssa Elliott took sixth at 14.50.
- Anna Connors won the 400m competition at 54.86.
- Jessica Starr won the 400m hurdles, with a time of 1:01.81.
- Elliott finished fifth in the 800m in 2:18.00.
- Ally McCarthy (5:03.61), Samantha Moore (5:05.50) and Anique Poulin (5:07.98) finished in third, fourth and sixth respectively in the mile.
- Claire Paci won the 3000m at 10:06.30.
- The 4x800m relay team of Samantha Moore, Ally McCarthy, Anique Poulin and Caroline Rice won the event at 9:18.71.
Up Next: UConn will compete at the Raleigh Relays from March 26th-28th.
