LYNCHBURG, Va. - The UConn softball team lost to the Radford Highlanders, 5-1 to close out the Liberty Invitational on Sunday morning.

Graduate Jessica Walter (Middletown, Del.) made her 7^th start of the season for the Huskies. Walter went 2.2 innings, giving up four earned runs on seven hits with a pair of strikeouts.

Radford jumped out to an early lead, scoring pairs of runs in the 1^st and 2^nd innings, giving the Highlanders a 4-0 advantage.

Sophomore Alexandra Bacher (Ridgefield, Conn.) came on in relief for Walter during the 3^rd inning, making her eighth appearance of the season in the circle. Bacher pitched 3.2 scoreless innings for the Huskies giving up just three hits, adding a strikeout.

Raford extended their lead in the 3^rd inning to 5-0.

The Huskies offense was held to just three hits in the game by Radford starting pitcher, Morgan Cooper who went the distance in the circle for the Highlanders.

Sophomore Amber Bretton (Gorham, Maine) came on in relief for Bacher during the top of the 7^th inning, making her second appearance of the season. Bretton kept the Highlanders offense off the board, pitching 0.2 scoreless innings for the Huskies.

Cat Petteys (Vestal, N.Y.) scored UConn's lone run of the game in the bottom of the 7^th inning with her third home run of the season, a solo shot to right center field, moving the scoreline to 5-1.
