No. 1 UConn, St. John’s to Face Off Wednesday

STORRS, Conn. – The top-ranked UConn women's basketball team (15-0, 6-0 BIG EAST) faces St. John's (13-3, 3-2) Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in PeoplesBank Arena. The game will air on truTV and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (The River 105.9).
Wednesday is Huskies in the Pros Night in Hartford. UConn will celebrate some of the program's starts who have gone pro in the WNBA, Unrivaled and other leagues around the world.
Sophomore Sarah Strong scored 18 points on 7-11 shooting and added eight rebounds, four assists and four steals to lead UConn to an 84-48 win over Seton Hall last Saturday in Hartford. Graduate student Azzi Fudd scored 16 points. Sophomore Allie Ziebell had 12 and redshirt sophomore Jana El Alfy had 10 off the bench. UConn scored 35 points off turnovers vs. the Pirates.
Junior KK Arnold returned to action after missing one game with a nasal fracture. Arnold matched her season high with five steals and added five points and five assists.
UConn is 52-18 all-time vs. St. John's. In the last regular season meeting between the teams on Feb. 12, 2025, graduate student Azzi Fudd set her career high with 34 points and eight three pointers.
UConn will face St. John's in Madison Square Garden on March 1 in the team's regular season finale.
St. John's beat DePaul, 75-58, on Jan. 1. This season, Brooke Moore leads St. John's with 14.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Head coach Joe Tartamella is in his 14th season at St. John's.
