Huskies Earn Home Victory Over Fairfield

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's tennis team opened the 2026 spring season with a strong home performance, defeating Fairfield on Wednesday afternoon.
The Huskies set the tone early in doubles play, sweeping all three matches to secure the opening point. The pairing of Ella Platenikova and Victoria Matos earned a 6–1 victory, while Chloe Lomans and Madison McLeod followed with a 6–2 win. Cameron Didion and Isabella Asenov closed out the sweep with a 6–2 victory.
UConn carried its momentum into singles competition, Platenikova picked up a straight-set victory at singles, defeating Neyestani (6–1, 6–2). Lomans battled through a three-set match, earning a (6–3, 7–5, 7–5) win over Madina. Matos then secured a (6–2, 6–3) win against Harris.
The Huskies continued their strong showing, as Didion defeated Herrera (6–2, 6–3) during singles, and McLeod notched a (6–2, 6–1) victory over Loeffler. Asenov rounded out singles play with a hard-fought three-set win at defeating Malinowski (5–7, 7–5, 10–7).
With the win, the Huskies now look forward to their next match vs. Army at West Point, Saturday, Jan. 31st .
