With the win the Huskies are 6-0 in BIG EAST play for the first time in 24 seasons, have won 24-straight games in Hartford and have won 22-in-a-row against DePaul.
The Huskies jumped out to an early lead and never relented, going to the half up 10 and building the lead to as many as 23 late in the second half. Braylon Mullins led all scorers with 16 points along with a game-high seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks. How it Happened
The Huskies opened the aggressor and took a 10-3 lead ahead of the first media timeout by way of a Mullins four-point play. Later in the frame a Karaban 3-pointer, Reed Jr. bucket inside and a trio of free throws from Jayden Ross stretched the lead to double-figures for the first time, as UConn went up 21-11 with 8:33 to play in the opening stanza.
At 4:14 of the first the Blue Demons pulled within four at 25-21. Demary Jr. answered with back-to-back buckets to push the UConn lead back to multiple possessions, then ended the half with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to give UConn a 37-27 halftime advantage. Demary Jr., Karaban and Mullins all had nine points in the opening 20.
The Huskies scored seven of the first eight points of the second half and triggered a DePaul timeout at 17:17 after a Reed Jr. put-back pushed the lead to 44-28, largest of the day. Midway through the period the Huskies took their first 20-point lead after two buckets from Eric Reibe to go ahead 56-36 with 9:40 to play.
A troika of 3-pointers from Demary Jr., Mullins and Karaban over a two-minute span helped keep the Blue Demons at bay, with the last from Karaban giving the Huskies a 69-46 lead for their largest of the night with 5:00 to play. From there the Huskies went to the bench, with DePaul closing regulation on an 11-1 run to force the score to its final margin of 12.
