HUSKIES TAKE FOURTH AT THE GOAT

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The UConn men's golf team secured a fourth-place finish at The Goat, highlighted by senior Connor Goode's (Glastonbury, CT) tie for 10th at the United States Naval Academy Golf Club on Sunday.
UConn finished in fourth place out of 16 teams at The Goat, concluding the tournament with a final score of 871 (+19). The Huskies demonstrated consistent performance across the rounds, shooting 290 (+6) in the first, 288 (+4) in the second, and 293 (+9) in the final round. Loyola (Md.) was the tournament winner, shooting 858 (+6) followed by host Navy in second and Seton Hall in third.
Goode led the team, tying for 10th place individually with a final score of 216 (+3), a season-low three round score as well as his second-straight top-20 finish. His performance included a strong second round at 69 (-2), following a 75 (+4) and concluding with a 72 (+1).
Sophomore Matt Costello (Taunton, MA) also contributed significantly to the team's effort, tying for 15th place with a score of 218 (+5). Costello opened with a 70 (-1) and managed to recover from a challenging second round 77 (+6) with an even-par 71 in the final round, recording his first top-20 of the year.
Junior Bradley Sawka (Ellington, CT) tied for 17th, posting a total of 219 (+6), highlighted by a first round 70 (-1). He lands in the top-20 of a tournament for the second-straight week. Rounding out the UConn lineup was r-sophomore Kai-Jun Huang (Taipei, Tawain) who tied for 24th at 221 (75-72-74) and sophomore Caden Blanchette (Manchester, PA) who tied for 60th at 229 (78-75-76).
The Huskies will jump right back into action hosting their annual UConn Invitational at GreatHorse next weekend. The three-round tournament will play out over Sunday, September 28 through Tuesday, September 30.
