NORTHBOROUGH, Mass.- UConn women's lacrosse alum Tori Cini (Syosset, N.Y.) has been announced as a recipient of the 2025 Trina Mangano Scholarship, awarded by the Officials Recruitment and Development Committee. Cini and five other recipients were selected for their participation in a College Player Officials Academy (CPOA) event and their demonstrated dedication to pursuing officiating opportunities in the sport.
"Our committee is excited to honor this group for their commitment to the sport through the vessel of officiating." stated Stephanie Allen, Binghamton University Head Women's Lacrosse Coach and Chair of the Officials Recruitment and Development Committee. "Trina Mangano was instrumental in supporting the growth of the game, and this year's scholarship recipients exemplify that same level of dedication—eager to impact the next generation. We look forward to seeing these newly certified officials out on the field very soon, staying involved and connected to the game they all love."Â
"It is an honor to receive this distinguished scholarship and be given the opportunity to continue participating in the sport I grew up playing and deeply love," Cini said in a quote published by the IWLCA.
Cini played one season in Storrs, making the 2025 BIG EAST Second Team after starting all 17 games in net for the Huskies. Cini made 104 saves on the season at a .409 save percentage, recording a season-high 13 saves against nationally ranked Yale on March 12th.
Trina Mangano was a nationally and internationally rated official whose impact on the game extended far beyond the field. She played a key role in shaping the next generation of officials through her service on the US Lacrosse Training Committee, her work as a CWLOA trainer, and her position as the officials' assignor for IWLCA recruiting events. Trina's passion for education and mentorship helped elevate the standard of officiating in women's lacrosse. These scholarships honor her enduring legacy and unwavering commitment to growing the game through the development and support of officials.Â
