Rinker and Habisch selected in 2025 PWHL Draft

STORRS, Conn. – Two UConn women's hockey standouts, Ava Rinker and Jada Habisch were each selected in the fourth round of the 2025 PHWL Draft on Tuesday night.
"The PWHL is the best league in the world, and we are excited for Ava and Jada as they take the next step in their hockey careers." said head coach Chris MacKenzie.
Rinker was selected with the 30th overall pick in the fourth round by the back-to-back defending champs Minnesota Frost. The Elverson, Pennsylvania native played in all 36 games for the Huskies this past season, serving as an assistant team captain. Rinker led the Huskies' stout blue line this season, recording 3 goals, and 17 assists, totaling a career high 20 points in her senior season. Her stellar season landed her a spot on the All-Hockey East First Team for the first time in her career. For her career, Rinker played in 144 games for the Huskies, recording 8 goals, 37 assists, totaling 45 career points.
Habisch was selected with the 31st overall pick in the fourth round by one of the new expansion teams, Seattle. The Buffalo, Minnesota native played in all 36 games for the Huskies in 2024-25, serving as a team captain. Habisch led the Huskies in goals scored for the fourth season in a row, as she found the back of the net 16 times in her graduate season in Storrs. She landed a spot on the All-Hockey East Third Team, her third All-Conference honors in her career. Habisch concluded her impressive career in a UConn uniform helping the Huskies win back-to-back Hockey East Regular Season titles. In 166 games played, she scored 64 goals, which ranks third in program history and tallied 35 assists, giving her 99 career points, the sixth most points in program history.
