STORRS, Conn. – UConn women's hockey head coach Chris MacKenzie was named the 2024-25 Hockey East Coach of the Year on Wednesday morning. This is the second season in a row MacKenzie has been recognized with Coach of the Year honors from his coaching peers in Hockey East.
In his twelfth season at the helm of UConn women's hockey, MacKenzie led the Huskies to a 22-11-2 record this season, guiding the Huskies to their second straight Hockey East Regular Season Championship. UConn's 19 wins in Hockey East this season ties a program best set back in the 2023-24 season. MacKenzie coached a program record five players to Hockey East All-Star honors including the Hockey East Rookie of the Year in Claire Murdoch and Goaltender of the Year in Tia Chan.
"This award is a reflection of the hard work our coaching staff, support staff and players put into this season," said MacKenzie. "Thank you to the league coaches for recognizing our program."
