No. 1 UConn, No. 11 Iowa to Meet in Women’s Champions Classic

STORRS, Conn. – The top-ranked UConn women's basketball team (11-0) will face No. 11 Iowa (10-1) in the 2025 Women's Champions Classic Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The game will air on FOX and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97.9).
Saturday's game is the second in a doubleheader following No. 16 Louisville vs. No. 17 Tennessee at 11 a.m.
UConn senior Serah Williams is a native of Brooklyn.
Sophomore Sarah Strong scored 22 points as UConn beat Marquette, 89-53, in Hartford Wednesday. Graduate student Azzi Fudd had 14 points while freshman Blanca Quiñonez had 12. The Huskies scored 56 points off turnovers vs. the Golden Eagles.
UConn faced Louisville last season in the inaugural Women's Champions Classic, which the Huskies won 85-52. Strong had 21 points and eight rebounds while Fudd had 18 points.
UConn is 6-4 all-time vs. Iowa. The teams last met in the 2024 NCAA Tournament Final Four, which the Hawkeyes won.
The Hawkeyes are the fourth ranked opponent and fourth Big Ten opponent for UConn this season.
Iowa last played last Saturday, a 102-68 win over Lindenwood. This season, Ava Heiden leads the Hawkeyes with 15.2 points per game. Head coach Jan Jensen is in her second season leading the Hawkeyes.
