Chloe Thomas Sets UConn 5000m Record in BU Opener

BOSTON, Mass.-Â UConn Track & Field competed in the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener Saturday afternoon, a nationwide event hosted by Boston University.
Following a historic cross country season, Chloe Thomas made her indoor season debut, making more UConn history, running the fastest indoor 5000m time ever by a Husky at a 15:17. Thomas set a Canadian national under-23 record, and shattered her personal best by 17 seconds, finishing 6th overall in the prestigious event.Â
After a standout fall, Jenna Zydanowicz also dazzled in her season debut in the 5000m, shattering her previous personal best by over 40 seconds with a time of 16:08. Caroline Webb competed in the 5000m as well, finishing in 17:31.
UConn Outdoor Track & Field runner Travis Martin also competed, running unattached in the men's 3000m in 7:54, a personal best as well.Â
The Huskies will return to action after the new year at the Suffolk Invite on January 11th.
