Maresa Hense Earns Second Team All-America Honors

EUGENE, Ore.- Â Freshman heptathlete Maresa Hense (Germany) earned Second Team All-America honors Saturday after finishing 15th in the heptathlon with 5,608 points at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene.
Hense is the first freshman UConn women's track & field athlete to earn all-America honors since Lindsay Crevoiserat in 2012 and the 29th Husky on the women's side to be an all-American. Hense is only the second heptathlete in UConn history to earn all-America honors, joining Terry Roy (3rd in 1995).
On Day 1 of the heptathlon, Hense set a new personal best in the 100m hurdles, finishing 13th in the event with a time of 13.86, the 8th best mark in program history. The freshman finished 17th in the high jump at 1.63m. Hense set a new personal best in the shot put, finishing 13th at 12.37m.
On day 2 of the heptathlon, Hense kicked off the day with a 14th place finish in the long jump of 5.83m. In the javelin, Hense finished 18th with a throw of 31.02, and concluded the competition with a personal-best 2:14.21 in the 800m, finishing 7th in the event.
