Coventry, CT - The University of Connecticut rowing team enjoyed smooth waters on Coventry Lake Thursday morning, hosting Boston College and Holy Cross in the Irving-Christensen Cup. After a one-and-a-half hour fog delay, races began with otherwise highly favorable conditions.Â
Leading off, the Eagles took wins in the 3V8, V8, and 2V8 with UConn placing second in the 2V8. The Huskies capitalized on this momentum going into the V4, taking first with a time of 7:53.2. Of the performance, Coach Jen Sanford said, "It was a great day of racing on Coventry Lake. We haven't hosted a home race in a long time, and it was nice for our student-athletes to be able to compete on their home course. The varsity four showed great speed in the last race of the day, decisively beating both BC and Holy Cross. I look forward to testing our speed on Saturday in a very competitive field in NJ.
Up Next: The Huskies return to campus to prepare for the St. Joseph Invitational Saturday.Â
