Huskies Sweep Lindenwood To Open Dog Pound Invitational

STORRS, Conn. – UConn women's volleyball came away with their first victory of the 2022 season in Gampel Pavilion with a sweep over Lindenwood University.
UConn would come out of the gate firing on all cylinders to start the game. Feeding off the energy of the crowd, the Huskies would jump out to an 8-4 lead forcing Lindenwood to call their first timeout of the set. UConn would not stop there as they would eventually extend their lead to eight behind the likes of Caylee Parker and Allie Garland. UConn would take set four behind eight combined kills from Parker and Garland.
Lindenwood would put set one behind them and come out firing to begin the second set. Lindenwood would eventually jump out to an 8-4 lead forcing the Huskies to call a timeout. Lindenwood would extend their lead to eight. The Huskies would regroup and using kills form Parker and Garland, while also capitalizing off Lindenwood mistakes, the Huskies would fight their way back and cut the lead to two before a Lindenwood timeout. Coming out of the timeout, UConn would use the momentum created and eventually take the lead and take set two by a final of 25-21.
UConn would start set three very similar to how they started set one, jumping out to a quick lead and forcing Lindenwood to call an early timeout. From there the Huskies would not look back as they would take home set three 25-14 and come away with the victory and a 3-0 sweep.
It was an all-around team effort from the Huskies. Madi Whimire finished with 25 assists, Caylee Parker and Allie Garland both finished with 13 kills, and Karly Berkland would finish with 19 digs.

The Huskies will face Brown University at 1:30PM on Saturday Sept.17 and will close out the Dog Pound Challenge at 7PM vs. Bryant.
