NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team (3-2-1) scored four second half goals to soar past CCSU, 4-0, on a drizzly Sunday afternoon at CCSU Soccer Field.
The Huskies created the better of the opportunities in the first half with the best chance coming from Sophie McCarthy. The sophomore unleashed a bullet shot from outside the box that drilled the crossbar and just missed giving the Huskies the lead.
Tied 0-0 at the half, the Huskies broke through 10 minutes into the second half with Abbey Jones curling a left-footed shot past the diving keeper, off the post and in the back of the net.Â

Jones' goal was made possible by a nice assist from Jada Konte and less than 90 seconds later it was Konte that converted on her own third goal of the season. Jones had her shot saved by the keeper but Konte was there to push it past a pair of defenders and make it 2-0 Huskies.
Jaydah Bedoya joined the score sheet in the 63rd minute with a beautiful long-distance shot to make it 3-0 Huskies.

While the Huskies offense came alive, goalkeeper Kaitlyn Mahoney was her usual steady presence in net, making an acrobatic save in the 66th minute and finished the day with her fifth career shutout after logging four saves on the day.
In the 79th minute, Peyton Pettiford-Rowan scored her first career goal to put the game away. The Florence, Mass native capitalized off a rebound on a shot from freshman Izzy Gomez that bounced right to and she finished with the left foot.
Next up, the Huskies head home for its final non-conference game of the regular season with a Friday, September 16 matchup against Yale at 7 p.m. at Morrone Stadium.Â
