TAMPA, Fla. – The UConn men's track & field team sent a select group of athletes down to Florida to compete at the South Florida Invitational at USF on Friday afternoon. The Huskies picked-up six wins, including all four track events they competed in, and set five new PR's as well.
"Some great performances today from the men's team," said Associate Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Rich Miller. "Travis Snyder winning in his first outdoor performance and he is only getting better and better every time he competes. Safir Scott came in with a plan in the triple jump and executed it like an All American. The thrower group all turned in strong performances and provided great energy today."
"On the track, Noah Woodman winning his first 400 of the season and showed such strength leading the race wire to wire, and running away from the field in the last straightaway," stated Miller. "Stephen Sutton won, just edging teammate Mahamed Sharif. The pair showed great competitive energy and execution. And Wellington Ventura winning the 400m intermediate hurdles for the second straight weekend, while today's race may not have been a great technical race, he showed great strength and toughness."
"The 4x400m relay capped the day with a dominant performance," said Miller. "Many of these performances ranked regionally and nationally. Everyone walked away with something to build on going forward."
