Last Time Out…
The Huskies exploded out of the gates with a dominating 3-0 shutout of the Sacred Heart Pioneers in Tuesday afternoon's 2021 season opener. Moussa Wade, Felix Metzler and Maxwel De-Bodene each found the back of the net for the Huskies, with Ben Awashie, Thomas Decottignies, and Sosa Emovon providing the helpers. Senior transfer Jahmali Waite patrolled the pipes for the full 90 minutes and picked up a pair of saves to earn the clean sheet.
Big East Honors…
Junior midfielder Felix Metzler picked up Big East Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping UConn to a 3-0 victory over Sacred Heart and a 1-0 week.
Metzler gave the Huskies production on both sides pitch. On the defensive side, the Frankfurt, Germany native logged all 90 minutes of game action while helping to anchor a defense that limited the Pioneers to just four shot attempts. Offensively, Metzler notched the second of UConn's three goals, drilling a straight-line shot into the back of the cage in the 59th minute of play.
