UConn Opens American Tournament Play Saturday

STORRS, Conn. – The top-seeded and fifth-ranked UConn women's basketball team (26-3, 16-0 American) will face eighth-seeded Temple (16-14, 7-9) in the quarterfinals of the 2020 American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship Saturday at 2 p.m.
The game will be streamed on ESPN3 and aired on 97-9 ESPN.
UConn went 16-0 in conference play to earn the No. 1 seed in the tournament. The Huskies have won the last six AAC Tournament titles. UConn has outscored its opponents on average by 83.9-49.5 in the American Athletic Conference Tournament over the past six years.
Connecticut has gone 118-0 in regular season American play and 136-0 including tournament play.
The Huskies closed the regular season with an 80-39 win over USF. Five Huskies scored in double digits vs. the Bulls: junior Megan Walker (23), senior Crystal Dangerfield (13), sophomore Christyn Williams (13), freshman Aubrey Griffin (13) and sophomore Olivia Nelson-Ododa (10).
UConn is 14-2 all-time against Temple, with both Temple wins coming in the 1980s. The Huskies beat the Owls 83-54 on Nov. 17 in Philadelphia, led by 19 points from sophomore Christyn Williams.
The semifinals and championship game of the American Tournament will be aired on ESPN2. If the Huskies advance, they will compete in the semifinals Sunday at 4 p.m. and the championship game Monday at 7 p.m.
