No. 6 Huskies Host Tulane at XL Wednesday

STORRS, Conn. - The sixth-ranked UConn women's basketball team (21-3, 11-0 American) returns to the XL Center for the first time since Jan. 27 to host Tulane (12-13, 7-5) Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will air on SNY/ESPN3Ā and 97-9 ESPN.
The Huskies beat USF, 67-47, in Tampa last Sunday.Ā Junior Megan Walker led UConn with 21 points while sophomore Olivia Nelson-Ododa posted 20.Ā Freshman Aubrey Griffin was a spark for the Huskies off the bench, notching eight points, seven rebounds and five steals.Ā The Huskies trailed 19-13 after the first quarter and 29-25 at the end of the first half. UConn shot 62 percent from the field in the second half to outscore the Bulls 42-18.Ā
Four Huskies were named finalists for the Basketball Hall of Fame's position player of the year awards. SeniorĀ Crystal DangerfieldĀ (Nancy Lieberman Award), juniorĀ Megan WalkerĀ (Cheryl Miller Award), sophomoreĀ Christyn WilliamsĀ (Ann Meyers Drysdale Award) and sophomoreĀ Olivia Nelson-OdodaĀ (Lisa Leslie Award) are on the 10-player finalist lists for their positions. UConn is 11-0 all-time vs. Tulane with all previous meetings coming as conference foes.
The Huskies are ranked outside the AP Poll top five for the first time since 2007.
UConn has dominated the American Athletic Conference since joining the league ahead of the 2013-14 season.Ā The Huskies have won every conference regular season and tournament title since joining the American.Ā UConn hasn't dropped a game in regular season conference play, and the Huskies own a 113- 0 record in American games.Ā Including the postseason, UConn is 131-0 in American games.Ā
