STORRS, Conn. - The No. 1 UConn women's basketball team (11-0, 2-0 American) takes on SMU (6-6, 0-0) Sunday at 4 p.m. ET in Dallas. The teams will tip off on SNY/ESPN3 and the UConn IMG Sports Network (97-9 ESPN).
The Huskies are coming off an 83-55 win over Wichita State on Thursday. Senior Crystal Dangerfield scored 22 points while junior Megan Walker had 21. They each notched seven rebounds and five assists.
UConn is 10-0 all-time vs. SMU, with all meetings coming as members of the American Athletic Conference.
The Huskies have dominated the American Athletic Conference since joining the league ahead of the 2013-14 season. UConn hasn't dropped a conference game in regular season or postseason play in the American. The Huskies are 104-0 in regular season play in the American.
The Huskies currently rank fifth nationally with 6.4 blocks per game. Sophomore Olivia Nelson-Ododa has 51 of UConn's 70 blocks this season. Nelson-Ododa ranks second nationally with 44 blocks and 4.40 blocks per game. Nelson-Ododa has five games with five or more blocks, including a career-high seven at Dayton, vs. Oklahoma and vs. Wichita State. Through 11 games, Nelson-Ododa already ranks ninth for a UConn sophomore all-time with 51 blocks.
The Huskies have a 574-32 (.946) record in games played at Gampel Pavilion or the XL Center. The program boasts a record of 294-7 (.976) in Gampel since the 1993-94 season, and the Huskies have won 157 of their last 188 games in the Storrs facility. UConn's last loss at the XL Center came on March 12, 2013 (#2 Notre Dame, 61-59). The program's last loss at Gampel was on Jan. 5, 2013 (#5 Notre Dame, 73-72). UConn has won 98 straight home games.
