Huskies Fall at AAC Foe Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The UConn women's tennis team saw their first action against American Athletic Conference competition on Friday, taking on the Memphis Tigers to start a pair of weekend matches down in Memphis. The Huskies fell at the hands of the Tigers, 7-0, at the Racquet Club of Memphis, dropping to 2-5 in dual matches this season.
The Tigers won a closely contested doubles point with the No. 3 team of Alisha Reayer and Kayla Klazmer just getting past UConn's duo of junior Cassie Chung (Vancouver, British Columbia) and freshman Mireille Moreau (Warwick, Quebec), 7-5. The Huskies picked-up a victory at the No. 1 spot from senior Gillian Perrotta (Scarsdale, N.Y.) and freshman Julieanne Bou (New Braunfels, Texas) earning a 7-6 (3) win over Katherine Chao and Hannah Davis. It was the duo 13th victory together on the year and they improve to 4-1 in dual matches.
In singles, Bou lost a tough three-setter at the No. 3 spot to Claire Sullivan. Bou took the first set 6-3 but lost the second 7-5 and then fell in the third in a tie-breaker, 10-8.
The Huskies close out their trip to Memphis on Saturday afternoon when they take on Lipscomb.
