Shutout Earns Carpentier-Yelle Hockey East DPOW Honors

STORRS, Conn. – Freshman goaltender Samantha Carpentier-Yelle was named the Women's Hockey East Defender of the Week, as announced by Hockey East this afternoon.
In just her third start of the season, Carpentier-Yelle won her second career game and earned her first shutout this past Saturday (Nov. 24) in a UConn's 1-0 win at Yale in the third-place game of the Nutmeg Classic. The Bromont, Quebec native stopped 28 shots in the outing, including 17 in the third period to preserve the one-goal victory.
UConn closes out the first half of its season with a weekend home-and-home series against the Providence Friars on Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1.
