Two Huskies Qualify For Pan American Junior Championships

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Two University of Connecticut men's track and field performers have qualified for the 2017 Pan American Junior Championships based on results on Saturday night at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championship in Sacramento, Calif.
Rising sophomore Eric Van Der Els (Norwalk, Conn.) is a Junior National Champion as he won the 1,500-meter run in 3:46.84.
Rising sophomore Cameron Thompson (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) finished second in the hammer throw with an average mark of 212 feet, seven inches.
Both Van Der Els and Thompson are now members of the USA national team.
The Pan American Junior Championships will be held in Lima, Peru, on July 21-23
