"I thought we competed well," UConn head coach Greg Roy said, "While we didn't run a full championship lineup, the kids that did compete were tough. Our captains showed great competitive leadership as Craig, Chinedu and Mike were all champs, along with our 4x800m featuring three sophomores and senior AJ Chavez."
Seniors Craig Hunter, Chinedu Amonu and Michael O'Donnell were all crowned individual IC4A champions this past weekend.
Hunter tied a season-best 5.25m mark to bring home the title in the pole vault, his seventh first-place finish of the season.
After finishing third in the 400m preliminaries, Amonu came back to win it all in the final with a time of 47.59.
O'Donnell took home the title in the mile run after setting a new personal record time of 4:04.60 in the final.
UConn's 4x800m relay team, comprised of senior Alvaro Chavez and sophomores Kyle Barber, PJ Garmon and Ben Devenezia, added 10 points to the team's total after winning the event with a time of 7:31.34.
The Huskies finished strong in the triple jump, placing two athletes in the top-five. Sophomore Malik Snead and freshman Ronel Forde combined for 13 points, finishing second (15.43m) and fourth (15.32m), respectively.
