Freshman Oladipo Wins the ECAC Shot Put Title

BOSTON - Freshman Divine Oladipo headlined UConn's performance at the ECAC championship after capturing the conference title in the shot put this weekend at the BU Track and Tennis Center.
The Huskies finished fifth overall as a team, behind James Madison, Monmouth, Liberty and meet champion, Albany.

"I am proud of the effort my team put in this weekend," UConn head coach J.J. Clark said, "Congratulations to Divine winning the AAC and then the ECAC conference as a freshman. We had big performances from Randazzo with a 32 second PR in the 5k and a second place finish. Akerley had a great season, ending with another personal record. Durgin capped of her senior indoor season with an eight point second-place finish. We had several key team members who were unable to compete in the meet. We need to rest now."
Oladipo earned the title of the ECAC shot put champion after posting a 15.53m mark.
Sophomore Ericka Randazzo collected up eight points with a second-place finish and new personal record in the 5000m (16:44.81).
Senior Emily Durgin and sophomore Courtney Akerley combined for 11 points in the 3000m run as Durgin earned the silver with a time of 9:28.19 and Akerley finished sixth with a personal-best time of 9:36.70. Sophomore Lindsey Kane added three points after placing sixth in the 1000m run with a time of 2:52.90.
Junior Katie Foley contributed five points after coming in fourth place in the 800m with a time of 2:09.86. Senior Sydnee Over also claimed a fourth place finish, after she ran a 1:13.34 in the 500m for another five points.
