Senior Durgin Headlines Hurricane Collegiate Invitational Winning 3000m

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Senior Emily Durgin highlighted UConn's performance as she won the 3000m run at the Miami Hurricane Twilight on Saturday, March 25 at Cobb Stadium on the University of Miami campus.

"We had another good day," UConn head coach J.J. Clark said, "We got a lot of work done from a training stand point this week and we saw improvements in every area. Emily Durgin was our only individual winner in the 3000m. I was really pleased with how we looked today
Durgin captured her second consecutive first-place title of the outdoor season after dominating the 3000m run with a time of 9:28.92.
Fellow senior Alexis Panisse took third in the 800m run with a season-best time of 2:09.99. Junior Katie Foley also came in the top-10 of that same event with a time of 2:12.68.
Sophomore Courtney Akerley set a new PR in the 1500m after she finished in the top-five with a career-best time of 4:41.69.
Junior Ashley Wiggins earned a PR in the 200m dash with a career-high time of 25.68.
In the pole vault, sophomore Laurel Bailey nailed a 3.60m vault, just 0.07m shy of her personal best to claim sixth place.
Senior Christine Donat recorded a personal record 11.66m leap in the triple jump, to finish in fifth behind two competitors from Florida and two from Clemson.
Freshman Divine Oladipo finished second in the shot put, launching a 15.67m throw. The rookie also took sixth in the discus with a 48.45m toss.
UConn has had continual success in the throws. Freshman Chanell Botsis took third with a 56.31m mark in the hammer throw.
