UConn Concludes Armory Collegiate Invite Saturday

NEW YORK - The UConn women's track and field team had another concrete performance this weekend at the Armory Collegiate Invitational at the Armory, which concluded on Saturday, Feb. 4. The Huskies finished 14th overall in a field of 31 teams.
"We had another solid team performance this weekend," UConn head coach J.J. Clark said, "Kelli Thomas and Devine Oladipo had a great meet, combining for four personal record performances with marks that will help us tremendously in our conference meet. Taylor Anderson posted another conference leading mark and Ashley Wiggins put up a personal record, a time that will help us in a few weeks. I'm really looking forward to our upcoming meet next week."
Senior Taylor Anderson was a usual staple in UConn's success, recorded yet another top-time in the conference after running the 60m dash in 7.46 seconds.
UConn dominated in the throws. Freshman Divine Oladipo set a new personal best in the shot put with a 50' 1.75'' (15.28m) record throw to finish third overall in that event.
In the weight throw, junior Kelli Thomas also finished third, hitting a new personal record mark with a 60' 11.50'' (18.58m) launch. Thomas' and Oladipo's third-place finishes marked the top placements on the team.
Sophomore Laurel Bailey also had a career-best performance in the pole vault, setting a new personal record 11' 11.75'' (3.65m) vault.
Three Huskies finished in the top-20 in the 1000m run in a pool of nearly 50 competitors. Senior Alexis Panisse led the Huskies in that event, finishing 10th with a time of 2:52.57. Junior Katie Foley and sophomore Lindsey Kane came in just behind Panisse, finishing 13th (2:54.01) and 18th (2:55.76), respectively.
Panisse also excelled in the mile run after she recorded a season-best 5:04.70 mile time. Junior Lauren Scahil came in right after Panisse at 14th with a 5:07.86 mile time.
In the 800m run, Foley and Kane finished in the top-15 with Foley running a 2:14.22 and Kane recording 2:16.14.
The Huskies are back in action next weekend in Seattle, Wash. On Friday, Feb. 10 for the UW Husky Classic and then come back to east coast for the Valentine Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 11 in Boston.
