Torney Wins Heptathlon at 2017 UConn Multi Event Challenge

Final Results
STORRS, Conn. -Sophomore Jordan Torney won the Heptathlon on Friday scoring 5150 points over the two-day UConn Multi Event Challenge. The Huskies earned 19 team points to secure the top spot among the five competing teams.
Torney opened the day by recording a personal-record and meet-best 8.24 in the 60 M hurdles. With his marks in the hurdles, long jump and heptathlon, Torney qualified for those events in March's IC4A Championships.

Samuel Rusak secured second place in the final standings. The freshman shined in the pole vault by posting a 4.80 M mark in the event, the best of the meet.
Benjamin Grosse locked down a victory in his heat of the 1000 M race, chasing down Jason Biesma of Boston University in the final stretch. Grosse ran a meet-best 2:51.04 in the event.
Next up, the men's track squad will compete in the Great Dane Classic on Saturday, Jan 13 at Oceanbreeze Track and Field Center in Staten Island, N.Y.
