WXC Looks To Carry Success into the Northeast Regionals

STORRS, Conn. ââ'¬" The University of Connecticut women's cross country team is headed to Buffalo, N.Y. for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship meet on Friday morning (11 a.m.).
In its most recent outing, the squad captures the programs first conference championship at The American Cross Country Championship in Philadelphia, Pa. Freshman Brianna O'Brien was honored as the league's Rookie of the Year, while head coach J.J. Clark and his coaching staff took home the Coaching Staff of the Year diction.
The Huskies placed three runners in the top-5 and five runners in the top-15 at the conference championships, as the team finished an average of 20 seconds ahead of their closest opponents, SMU who turned in a second place performance.
This weekend, UConn will compete in a 29-team field with a spot in next weekend's NCAA Championship Race on the line.
The Huskies look to improve on last season's 15th-place place at the Northeast Regionals. UConn is ranked No.8 in the latest Northeast Regional Poll.
