AMHERST, Mass. - Competing in its first meet of the 2016 season, the UConn women's cross country team picked up a fourth-place finish at the Minuteman Invitational on Saturday morning on the campus of UMass. The Huskies finished the seven-team meet with 93 total points as Boston College emerged with the event win with 30 points.
As a team, UConn averaged a 18:30 second finish in the 5K race and tallied three top-25 individual finishers overall.
Sophomore standout Ericka Randazzo shined, taking fourth overall with a 18:00.3 second finish, averaging 5:47.7 seconds per mile. Freshman Danielle Jordan opened her collegiate career with a 14th-place 18:18.4 second finish, while teammate Mary Monda Oewel placed 22nd with a time of 18:38.0. Senior Sydnee Over delivered a top-30 individual performance, taking 28th after crossing the line in 18:47.0.
The seven-team field featured competition from Boston College, Vermont, UMass, Sacred Heart, and Amherst.
