Trio of Huskies Conclude Competition at 2016 USATF Juniors

CLOVIS, Calif. ââ'¬" Three UConn men's track and field standouts, PJ Garmon, Chris Heydrick and Malik Snead, concluded a two-day stretch at the 2016 USATF Junior Championships, held at Veteran's Memorial Stadium on June 24-25.
All athletes in the competition must be 19 years-old or younger. The top two finishers in each event advanced to represent the United States at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Garmon, who earned a berth into the 800m prelims with a 1:51.75 second finish at the Larry Ellis Invitational in April, finished 13th on Friday night, crossing the finish line in 1:54.91. Teammate Chris Heydrick took eighth in his 1,500m run prelim heat, securing a 15th-place finish with a time of 3:59.38.
Snead, whose season-best 15.12m triple jump leap came in the conference championship, posted a fifth-place finish in Saturday night's event final with a leap of 15.05m.
