Huskies Wrap Up NCAA East Regional Action on Saturday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The UConn men's track and field team wrapped up a three-day stretch at the 2016 NCAA East Regionals on Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla.
"I thought we competed well over the three days," said Husky head coach Greg Roy. "It was nice to see Amanze and Stephon post career-bests on a big stage. We're happy with the effort from the guys this weekend and looking forward to seeing Craig Hunter compete in Eugene."
In total, the Huskies boasted a program-record 14 NCAA East Regional qualifiers. For more information on the Connecticut student-athletes in Florida, please CLICK HERE. The top-12 finishers in each event advance to the NCAA Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. on June 8-11.
Senior standout Amanze Williams wrapped up a stellar career, taking 26th in the triple jump with a lifetime-best leap of 15.48m, while two Huskies competed in Saturday's 110m hurdle quarterfinal. Sophomore Stephon Henry collected a 17th-place finish with a career-best 14.00 second mark, checking in just ahead of teammate Selwyn Maxwell, who finished 18th (14.00).
Connecticut's 4x400m relay team (Beram, Henry, Sykes, Amonu) concluded action on the track on Saturday night, crossing the finish line in 3:09.76 seconds on his way to a 20th-place finish.
Three Huskies competed in Friday afternoon's javelin throw prelim, paced by a 19th-place finish from Kevin Foster, who notched a mark of 65.07m. Senior Adam Boucher (62.64m) and sophomore Seth Zuidema (60.44m) took 27th and 34th in the event, respectively.
On Thursday, junior pole vaulter Craig Hunter posted a qualifying mark for the NCAA Championships with a leap of 5.30m. For a complete recap of day one, please CLICK HERE.
