ORLANDO - After securing its fifth-ever outdoor conference crown a season ago, the UConn men's track and field sets its sights on a repeat performance when it travels to the campus of UCF to participate in the 2016 American Athletic Conference outdoor championship on May 12-15.
Action at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex kicks off on Thursday, May 12 at 11 a.m. with the hammer throw and continues through 8:50 p.m., rounding out with the 4x400m relay, on Sunday, May 15. A complete meet schedule can be accessed by CLICKING HERE.

"It was academic finals last week and now it's track and field finals this week," said head coach Greg Roy. "Our guys are ready for their exam."
The Huskies hoisted the 2015 outdoor crown at the George J. Sherman Family-Sports complex a season ago after winning the event with 158 points. The title was the fourth outdoor championship under Roy and first since joining the conference prior to the 2014 campaign.
UConn checked in at No. 2 in the Northeast Region in the May 2 edition of the USTFCCCA regional rankings.
Originally built in 1991, the UCF Soccer and Track Complex was re-opened in May 2011 following the construction of a grandstand seating facility on the west side.
Surrounding one of the top pitches in all of college soccer, is an eight-lane, 400-meter track featuring a Martin Surface that was refurbished in the summer of 2004. In 2008, an expanded throwing area for the hammer, discus and shotput was also added to the complex. Both, long jump and triple jump pits, were rebuilt ahead of the 2008 season.
UConnHuskies.com will have complete coverage of the event. Check back on Friday morning for a recap of day one.
