UConn Readies for Split-Squad Weekend

PRINCETON, N.J. - After cruising to a win at the 2016 UConn Northeast Challenge on Saturday at the George J. Sherman Family-Sports Complex, the UConn men's track and field returns to action on April 22-23 when it travels to Princeton, N.J. to participate in the Larry Ellis Invtiational and to Baton Rouge, La. to compete at the LSU Alumni Gold on April 23.
Action at Weaver Stadium is scheduled to begin on Friday, April 22 at 2 p.m. with the pole vault and will wrap up on Saturday, April 23 following the 4x400m relay. "We got a split-squad weekend coming up," said Husky head coach Greg Roy. "We are starting to round into shape and looking for some pop in our performances. We're sending speed and jump events to LSU with the rest of the squad at a high-level invitational at Princeton, the Larry Ellis Invitational, named after the Princeton coach who was also the head Olympic coach.
The Huskies are coming off a strong showing at their lone home meet of the 2016 outdoor season, winning the Northeast Challenge with 212 team points. The meet field included Albany, Buffalo, URI, Northeastern, and Southern Connecticut State University. A complete weekend recap is available by CLICKING HERE.
Connecticut checked in as the No. 2 team in the Northeast in the weekly USTFCCCA regional rankings, garnering 515.65 total points, trailing only Cornell (732.62).
