Huskies Shut Out Florida Tech 9-0

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's tennis team closed out their two-match road trip to Florida with a 9-0 win over Florida Tech. The Huskies even their overall record 5-5.
The Huskies swept all three doubles matches and by playing under the format that each douobles match counts for a point, they opened the match with a 3-0 lead. The Huskies top team of senior Srna Stosljevic (Novi Saad, Serbia) and freshman Jacquelyn Fitz-Randolph (Tampa, Fla.) posted an 8-6 win over Natasa Vukovic and Chloe Chanley.
Junior Emma Alderman (Hingham, Mass.) and sophomore Yelyzaveta Pletnyeva (Vinnitsa, Ukraine) won 8-2 over Erin Egoroff and Merritt Rabson at #2. The Huskies finished the doubles sweep at #3 with junior Shea Flanagan (Overland Park, Kans.) and freshman Jacqueline Lazaro (Largo, Fla.) beating Kayla Hergott and Alahna Reto.
Stosljevic won her #1 singles match with Vukovic by scores of 6-2 and 6-2. Alderman won at #2 over Chanley, 6-1 and 6-3 and Pletnyeva took her match at #3 over Egoroff, 6-1 and 6-1. Fitz-Randolph took her match at #4 over Hergott, 6-1 and 6-2.
Flanagan won a three-set battle at #5 with Alahna Reto, winning the first set 6-1, dropping the second 7-5 and rebounding for a 6-4 win in the third. Sophomore Summer Walker (Conyers, Ga.) earned a hard fought win at #6 over Lauren Stuckey, 7-5 and 7-6 (2).
The Huskies will head to California for their annual spring break trip and face Colorado State, Cal State Northridge and Long Beach State.
