Huskies Lose Battle with Albany, 4-3

ITHACA, N.Y. - The UConn women's tennis team closed out their weeked in Ithaca, N.Y. falling to the University at Albany, 4-3, at the Reis Tennis Center. The Huskies dropped their second-straight match to fall to 4-2 in dual match play.
The opening doubles point came down to the #2 spot after the two teams split the first two matches. Junior Shea Flanagan (Overland Park, Kans.) and freshman Jacqueline Lazaro (Largo, Fla.) answered Albany's win at #1 by beating Dajana Ognjenovic and Chassidy King at #3, 7-6 (6).
The opening point came down to #2 match where junior Emma Alderman (Hingham, Mass.) and sophomore Yelyzaveta Pletnyeva (Vinnitsa, Ukraine) lost a hard fought battle with Paulina Torres and Ana Glumac, 7-6 (3).
UConn won the top-three singles matches led by senior Srna Stosljevic (Novi Sad, Serbia) at #1. Stosljevic beat Ognjenovic 6-2 and 6-4. Alderman won at #2 over King, 6-4 and 6-2 and Pletnyeva won another three-set battle, beating Torres 6-4 and 10-8 after losing the first set 7-6 (4).
The Huskies will be back in action when they travel to Texas for a pair of American Athletic Conference matches. UConn will head to Houston on February 26th and SMU on February 28th.
