STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team continues conference play on the road this weekend when it faces Merrimack on Saturday, Nov. 5 and New Hampshire on Sunday, Nov. 6.
The Huskies are looking for their first Hockey East win of the year after opening their league slate with back-to-back losses to Boston College. Junior goaltender Annie Belanger (Sherbrooke, Quebec) racked up a combined 75 saves in the home-and-home series with the Eagles.

UConn was 2-0-1 against Merrimack last season and 3-2 against UNH. The Huskies and the Wildcats met in the 2015-16 Hockey East quarterfinals where UConn swept UNH 2-0 with home ice advantage, including a 4-3 triple overtime thriller in game two.

Merrimack is coming off a 1-1 weekend against Hockey East opponents RV Northeastern and Providence. The Warriors outlasted the Northeastern Huskies 3-2 on Friday, Oct. 28 before recording a 6-2 loss to Providence the next day.

The Warriors are 2-2 in Hockey East games so far this season with their only other win coming against Maine and a loss to New Hampshire. Merrimack carries a young roster with only two upperclassmen total, both seniors. The rest of the Warrior squad is either freshmen or sophomores and includes two redshirt sophomores.

New Hampshire only played one contest last weekend, earning its second win of the season, and second win in league play, against Vermont, 4-2. Five of the six goals in Friday's contest were scored in the first period. The Wildcats went up 2-0 at the start and then scored two power play goals to take a 4-1 lead after the first 20 minutes.

After riding a five-game losing streak to start their season, the Wildcats put up six goals against Merrimack to grab their first victory of the year at home against Merrimack. UNH leading scorer, senior Jonna Curtis took credit for four of the six goals against the Warriors.
