Men's Soccer Resumes Conference Action at UCF

STORRS, Conn. - Coming off a dramatic 1-0 overtime victory against Boston College, the UConn men's soccer team travels down to Orlando to resume conference play with UCF on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
UConn (11-4, 3-1) redshirt-sophomore Dylan Greenberg (Dix Hill, N.Y.) notched his first goal of the season at the tail end of the first overtime to knock of the Eagles on Tueday night. The extra-time victory pushed the Huskies to 1-1 on the year when pushed past the end of regulation.
UConn owns a 7-0-1 all-time record against UCF in a matchup that began in 1978. In 2015, the Huskies and Knights squared off on October 17th, 2015 at Morrone Stadium. UConn captured the win, 2-1, behind goals from Abdou Mbacke Thiam (Dakar, Senegal) and Jake Nerwinski (Lawrenceville, N.J.).
UCF enters Saturday's contest 3-8-0 overall and 1-3 in The American. Last time out for the Knights on Tuesday night they traveled to Stetson and lost in double-overtime 2-1. UCF is led offensively by Matias Pyysalo who leads the squad and is third in conference with eight goals this season.
The Huskies counter with a top-10 ranking nationally in goal against average (.52). Redshirt-junior Jake Levene (Stamford, Conn) leads The American with eight shutouts in 2016. Offesnively, Mbacke Thiam is second in The American with nine goals and 22 points. Kwame Awuah (Toronto, Ontario) leads the team and is tied for second in the league with six assists.
