UConn Begins Conference Play at Tulane on Saturday

NEW ORLEANS - After pushing its winning streak to four games with a 71-66 victory over Texas on Tuesday night, the UConn men's basketball team rounds out a two-game roadtrip when it begins American Athletic Conference play at Tulane on Saturday, Jan. 2. Tip-off at Devlin Fieldhouse is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcasted on CBS Sports Network with radio coverage on the UConn/IMG Radio Network.
UConn (9-3) took down Texas, 71-66, on Dec. 29 in its first true road game of the 2015-16 season. Redshirt-junior guard Rodney Purvis (Raleigh, N.C.) had a team-best 16 points, while fellow junior Kentan Facey (Trelawny, Jamaica) contributed seven points and eight rebounds in his first start of the year. The Huskies held the Longhorns to 39.0 percent from the floor over the 40-minute contest and held a sizeable 40-to-28 advantage in the paint.
The Huskies are 2-0 all-time against the Green Wave after beginning the series a season ago. In the last meet on Feb. 22, junior center Amida Brimah (Accra, Ghana) scored a game-high 19 points on perfect 8-of-8 shooting in a 67-60 Husky win at Gampel Pavilion.
Connecticut is coming off a 10-8 regular season conference record in 2014-15. Under fourth-year head coach Kevin Ollie, UConn owns a 32-22 (.593) mark in league play.
Through 12 games, UConn fans second in The American and 11th nationally with a .509 field goal percentage and also checks in in the top-30 in blocked shots per game (5.8), field goal defense (38.1 percent), and scoring margin (21.7).
