UConn Hosts CCSU at the XL Center on Wednesday

HARTFORD, Conn. - After picking up its second-straight win on Sunday afternoon, the UConn men's basketball team returns to the court on Wednesday, Dec. 23 when it plays host to in-state foe Central Connecticut State University at the XL Center in Hartford. Tipoff for the game is set for 12:30 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPNU with radio coverage on the UConn/IMG Radio network.
UConn (7-3) topped UMass Lowell, 88-79, on Sunday behind a season-best 28-point performance from redshirt-junior guard Rodney Purvis (Raleigh, N.C.). The Huskies shot 64.0 percent from the field, including 66.7 percent in the first 20 minutes. Sophomore standout Daniel Hamilton (Los Angeles, Calif.) picked up his team-leading fourth double-double in the win with a 12-point, 11-rebound effort.
The Huskies are 2-0 at the XL Center this season and own a 251-88 record (.740) in 40 seasons of play in their off-campus home facility.
Connecticut sports a perfect 13-0 record against Central in a series dating back to the 1979-80 season. The two squads last squared off on Dec. 28, 2014 when junior forward Kentan Facey (Trelawny, Jamaica) recorded his first career double-double (12 points, 12 rebounds) in a 81-48 Husky victory.
The Blue Devils enter Wednesday's showdown with a 1-8 overall record after earning their first victory of the season against the River Hawks on Dec. 18. The squad is averaging 67.8 points per game, led by 13.4 ppg from junior guard Khalen Cumberlander.
Since the start of the 1986-87 season, Connecticut is 72-3 (.960) against in-state competition.
